Congress/Senate is/was considering taxing soda pop in order to pay for health care reform.   We have no problem with that.

A Harvard School of Public Health review of 40 years of scientific nutritional studies implicates soft drinks as a major factor in the nation's obesity epidemic. Cardiovascular disease has been linked with obesity.  click HERE

Treatment of diseases that are linked with obesity lead to higher health care costs to (you) the consumer.

Therefore, join with us  in  pledging to eliminate or reduce consumption of these products:

All soda products  - unless it is sugar free (if it contains a sugar substitute, limit consumption)

We are sick and tired of businesses who use lobbyists and special interest groups to try to derail legislation  they don't like, or create or influence legislation that would benefit them and not necessarily benefit the American consumer and/or taxpayer.

We are therefore, targeting these associations and businesses - (If you are a business, you should always  monitor your partnerships and memberships in associations to make sure those associations are not doing things that would hurt the consumer.) :

1. CIGNA

2. Ohio Chamber of Commerce - has joined with "Americans Against Food Taxes" to stop health care reform legislation that would include a tax on soft drinks.  A Harvard School of Public Health review of 40 years of scientific nutritional studies implicates soft drinks as a major factor in the nation's obesity epidemic. Cardiovascular disease has been linked with obesityWe do not want our food taxed, but we believe "Americans Against Food Taxes" was formed to derail health care reform legislation.  The group is focused on prevention of taxes on soft drinks, juice drinks and flavored milk.  "Americans Against Food Taxes" know that the consumer will eliminate or reduce consumption of soda pop if there is a tax on it.

- Enter the name of the company you are considering doing business with HERE - If that company is listed, you can either not do business with them, or let that business know that the Ohio Chamber of Commerce (to which they belong) has an association with "Americans Against Food Taxes",  and it  is for that reason you have reservations about doing business with them.

3. Ohio Council of Retail Merchants  is a coalition member of "Americans Against Food Taxes".
